Return pump recommendations

So, a bit of background. I currently have an 80 gal DT (upstairs) with an 80 gal sump in the basement. Currently I'm running a Laguna power jet 2900 pond pump as my return pump. It was recommended by my LFS when I was setting up my system and to be honest it runs pretty good. According to the chart on the box though, I'm supposed to be pushing about 1200 gph after 10' of head. I have a hard time believing I'm making that looking at the flow over the weir on my bubble trap in the sump. I'm also having some noise issues with vibration both from it sitting in my sump and traveling up the spa flex. I am also learning about the limitations a tank 4' long but only 16" front to back restricts you to. So, I'm thinking of upgrading to a bigger DT and replacing a few things. I see reef flo has multi speed pumps. I kind like the idea that I can switch out my pump now and when I do upgrade DT's I can just speed the pump up and still be ok.
I also see Iwaki has some DC powered pumps which I understand makes them much more energy efficient. I am trying to cut down on my power bill so that's always good :)
So my wish list for a pump is:
1) Minimum 1200 gph @ 10' of head
2) Can be either in sump or external. Sump is on a stand and cutting hole for bulkheads would be easy. I'd mount the pump under or beside sump.
3) Quiet, very little vibration
4) 2 speed (or variable)
5) Low wattage - can be either 120V or 240V (panel isn't far away)

Any ideas, recommendations or suggestions?
