Return Pump Suggestions

KeithB

Mmmm.. Vodka.
I'm planning my build and need pump suggestions that'll give me around 1k gph at 5' head. It'll need to be located in the stand, so noise will be of paramount concern. My secondary concern is that of heat transfer, as I'd like to keep as much pump generated heat out of the water as possible. I don't want to say that price isn't an issue, but I will shell out the cash for the best if te value is there. What's everyone's thoughts?

Ooh, the wavelines look interesting. But I can find nothing on flow rate vs head. Know where I can find this info?

www.rlss.ca
Website for DC pumps with flow rate charts.
Running a DC10000 on a 250, so quiet I can hear a slightly noisy Sea Swirl.
Very happy so far, the only concern is plumbing, metric threads on the return side so you have to use their hose barb setup.

I read the gen2 will not be metric and will work on our standard PVC allowing for hard plumbing if desired.

Thanks for the links everyone. I had been out of the hobby so long (10 years) that I hadn't even hear of these companies. Much appreciated.

To those of you using the Wavelines are you using them in an internal or external fashion? You need a special O-Ring, for external, right?

Laguna. Either the powerjet or the max-flo.

i switched to this after the eheim 1260 i had was too loud for me.

the powerjet/max-flo is much cheaper, and is what the waveline/atb/waterblaster lines are based off-of.

unfortunately, the laguna pumps don't come with a stand, unless you get the max-flo 1500 (i think) and order the stand by a vendor.. i forget from somewhere in southern california that makes them.

so cal tropical fish sells the stands for the laguna 1500. they are in Fullerton CA.

I think I got the last DC3000 from aquarium specialty. I noticed they now say out of stock on all DC pumps.

I'll be hooking it up tonight

excited!!!

I am very happy with sicce. It's incredibly quiet

Ageed! Sicce are good pumps!

I have a sicce 4.0 but my DC3000 is quieter. I can only hear it ramped up to the highest setting (5) and it's a moderate hum at that. The feed mode is nice and it holds the last setting if you power off. I also had to turn up my heater because it runs cooler than my old Tunze 1073.040 and the Sicce.

Only down side I see so far is that it's not as strong with head pressure if you run 1/2 in id on it. 3/4 or larger is much better.

I'm not sure how accurate the diablo ratings are but they seem to show better head pressure ratings than their waveline counterparts. HMM?

Still loving the waveline DC pump though!!!!!
