I got my leaking overflow fixed! But I've found the Rio 2100 I was given as a return is just too much. Does anyone have a mag 3 or 5 (or other suitable return) waiting for a good home?

This is to return from a 15 gal sump to 40 gal tank.

I am using a quiet one 2200 on my 40 breeder with a 15 gallon sump. I have no complaints.

Just throttle down the Rio for a quick fix

Well, since I didn't install a ball valve on the return line, I can't throttle it down any good way. The sump will stay off line until I've got a better return pump. I've got a light, a small heater and a maxi-jet 900 keeping the macro and pods in the sump happy.

I've been meaning to order an in sump skimmer from the SC. I might order a new return pump as well, if a used one doesn't surface soon. There have to be a bunch of used pumps out there.

You're right. And I should really do that. Still, the Rio was very noisy. I think there are more suitable pumps for this.

If you have the "extra parts" that came with the Rio 2100, they should have a cheap valve you can use.

At least mine did...
