Return Question

I currently have a standard 125 and I'm looking to add a 15 gallon frag tank. Would it be necessary to purchase another return pump to "fuel" the frag tank or would I be ok splitting my current return line which is a mag 12? The sump sits right under the DT and the frag tank will be set up next to the DT above the sump.

I'm having a little bit of a microbubble problem as well and I've read that could be due to much flow through my sump so I thought this may kill two birds with one stone.

Any thoughts?

You could probably split the return, but it depends on how much pressure loss your plumbing has and whether you could spare some from the return. Usually a 3-5x display turnover through the sump is good, but again, it really depends on how much head loss you have. do you have any means of measuring flow rate from your pump? (usually a simple test of timing the pump filling a known portion of the tank back up after a water change is a good way of determining actual flow rate).

The mag 12 is feeds the display through 2 standard 3/4" returns. All the plumbing is vinyl tubing so I think that means there is less head loss correct?
