Reusing Substrate

I am up sizing from a 125 to a 240 and was looking to use some substrate I have used in other tanks and some from the 125. I would of course rinse it very well. Or should I just bite the bullet and spend $300 on new substrate. Like to get opinions and experiences. Thanks in advance

I've rinsed and re-used sand before. I moved a 110g to my house with wet sand. Sucked it out, washed it, and re-used it. I used about 125lbs of live rock and had no cycle. Just watch your levels and you can dose with a product like prime if you need to detoxify ammonia and nitrite for a few days while the levels settle down.

I have never had an issue with reusing substrate.
