Reverse Osmosis Question

Hi all,

I just bought a brand new RO/DI a week ago, it's a 75 GPD five stage RO/DI.
I have been using it for a week now and my problem is that it's making
30 Gallon of water in less than 1 hour. I checked the quality of the water by using the TDS Meter and it says 004 ppm, the tap is around 160ppm.

I have read that the water will move fast in the first 3 hours of a brand new RO/DI because of air in the system and that the ASOV hasn't really started working yet.

After 1 week I have run this system far more than 3 hours and still the water is coming out super fast. Because of this I don't really know if I can use the DI water in the aquarium so what i have been doing is giving my trees all this water. Is this water safe for the aquarium?

Anyone know a fix for my problem?

Also is there another good way to test the water?

Of course I will be contacting the company from where I ordered the unit from today also. But I would like to hear any suggestions you guys have too.

Are you certain you are measuring the amount of purified water produced and not the waste water? Are you certain there is an RO membrane installed in the system?

Take a tds reading of the RO (no DI) water - it should be 4% or less than the reading of your tap water. So with your tap water at 160, your RO water should be about 7 or less.

What is the ration between the amount of purified water produced and the amount of waste water produced? Should be about 4 waste to 1 purified.

Also check if you have a flow restrictor installed on the R/O drain line

I just found out what the problem is. There is no RO membrane installed in my RO/DI and also they haven't included one with my unit.

Shoot how can they forget about something so important.

Ok I just called and no answer, I left a message. Also I just send them an e-mail.

Hopefully they can send me a new RO Membrane asap.

Thanks for the help Buckeye. If it wasn't for you I might still be looking for the problem.

Oh well I haven't heard from Air,Water and Ice as yet. Hopefully I will tomorrow morning.

Air,Water and Ice is sending me a new RO Membrane and even a new DI ( I didn't ask for this, but very nice from them) for their mistake.

I already got the FedEx tracking

So I am very happy that everything went smooth, without any problems at all. A+ for them.
