Wow, nice! I have been wanting to try stacking for a while, but haven't found a worthy subject.
I really want to make some sort of focusing rail system to make it even possible. What did you use?

Here is a mini tutorial on how to focus stack pictures. It's a free program that does it. I don't know much about it, I just load the pictures in and let it do its thing. I didn't use any type of focus rail system, I just used the regular 'ol focus ring on the cam (manual focus of course).

Hahaha, I need to stop with the Mountain Dew. I can hardly pull off one shot, nevermind 6 in the same frame with slightly different focus.

I must say, you found my photographic hero there ...I still have the image of some droplets burned into my retina from one of Brians picture stacks posted about six months ago over at POTN.

I have been thinking of chopping up a microscope to create a rail system since I saw them. Your pencil looks so incredible, I think it is time to move forward with that.

Maybe I could get lucky with a burst mode...

That focus stack program actually alligns up the pictures for you. My shots were far from perfect and it still came out decent. I'm using a POS $20 tripod with about 5 pounds of gear on, lol. I'm actually out the door to pick up a nice Manfrotto tripod and ball head...it's about time
