Reviving dead live rock ???

Hello all, I am not new to the hobby, just took a 4 year break. I have just bought a used 180g RR. It has the LR and DSB, but has been shut down for I am assuming 6-9 mos. ??? No lighting, no circulation, just sitting there in the water. May not have been that long, I'll find out for certain. But assuming that these are the conditions, is it still possible for the rock to be alive, ie bacteria colonies ??? I am planning on going bare-bottom and was planning on cooking the rock. Is it too late ??? Was wondering if I could revive it by mixing it in with rubble or other rock and going ahead with the cooking procedure, thanks, Curt.

if it stinks its dead. I imagine its dead.

Probably have to do that fun cooking method to get it all cleaned off...then reseed it with some new live rock or sand.

The sand will probably have to be tossed unless you want to rinse it all off thoroughly and start from scratch

And it may have lots of embedded phosphate. Best to start with excellent live rock and cure it.
