Mine recently ate a pom pom crab and not sure if the meal was too large or what the deal was but it looked awful for a couple weeks, thought I might lose it but seems to have recovered now.
I think they are surprisingly resistant. My rockwork partially collapsed and crushed the edge of the polyp. The morning before i was away for a week i noticed there was brown jelly covering the damage. I quickly dipped but expected the worst when i got back, then was shocked to see it looked better than ever and twice as large.
Mine just get whatever i am feeding the other NPS corals. I like to use PE Mysis enriched brine shrimp, and APBreed pellets mostly for the large polyp NPS corals.
Your best bet is to find someone with one and make an offer or get a good lfs to look out for a captive raised one. Mine is a captive from Germany which pop up from time to time but logistically not any help to you i guess.
