are these rare at all they are also known as the jewel of the sea
there was one at the local lfs and they were runin 200$

ok there are like a billion threads like this that have been started recentley.
rhyzostrochus is not a gem or jewel(wtvr ya wanna call it) of the sea.

they are to diffrent things. maybe same family, still undetermined, but rhyzostrochus are are deepwater corals that yes now are hard to find...maybe not rare byy nature, but due to there location andplacement, yes in the U.S.A they are rare

ok thanks so should i jump on it if it is 200$ or should i wait for them to get cheaper for instance what would u do and do they grow fast

personally i collect rare lps and im not going to pay $200 for it. they are slow growers that are non photosynetic (require being fed constantly by hand) being part of the dendro family. i believe your refering to balanophyllia.
from the time i first started seeing them till now, they've easily tripled in availability and i think will continue to do so over the next few months. if you ask me by mid spring youll be seeing them for $90 on roes.

wow i almost jumped on ti thanks saved me alot because they are really cool lookin they look like the middle of a fungia and i guess they are like sun polyps gettin in there with the turkey baster all the time

Yeah they are really nice corals I love them too, but I am a poor college student and I can't really afford anything quite that expensive. But one of the corals similar to it that I recently bought was a dendro from www.fragglereef.com and it has been doing great and I only have to feed it once a week.
