ribbon eel compatible

hey guys,I'm new to this forum(been a lurker for a while) but not the hobby. i am not an experienced reefer(just 6 years ). I own a 125gal custom rimless, a custom sump,BM NAC700 skimmer,Reef octopus reactor running NPX biopellets, for biomedia i use 1kilo of eheim substrat pro and 1 kilo of sea chem matrix(no detritus build up as i power blow with turkey baster every day). For circulation i have 2 mp40s and for lighting i have the orphek atlantikv2(prior to this i had the orphek atlantik.) 120lbs of lr and 20lbs of sand. now the question is that i want a ribbon eel. yea yea i know the hell people go when it comes to feeding and managing them but my lfs(8 minute drive,does home delivery for me :dance has them and i often watch him feed them so thats not a problem. the main thing thats stopping me from laying my hand on one is compatibility. you see i have a pair of designer clowns about 2 inches and if the eel would happen to go ham on them :blown:. also i have a few chromis about an inch each but they usually cruise the top portion of my tank. whats your take on this guys?

The ribbon eel will eat your designer clowns and chromis eventually so if those are a must then skip the eel. Me personally I would buy chromis just to watch the eel eat them

Me too I like seeing predators eat live prey it is AWESOME you should do that it is highly entertaining

I have a ghost eel (very similiar to ribbon). It will only eat live fish, so i feed it live mollies. Once it smells the molly in the tank he comes out hunting. Can be a pain in the *** feeding live fish eveyday or every other day.

Plus freshwater feeder fish like goldfish, rosey reds, and mollies all lack the proper vitamins and nutrition that saltwater need

Mine killed a Small Occy and a Springers Damsel.

Weaning them to frozen is a pita. I have a thread somewhere outlining the process I used.

They need to be spot fed to guarantee they get enough to eat.

wow nice.. would it work if i were to wait till the clowns are big and then buy the eel?

Doubt the clowns will ever get big enough not to remain off the menu, up to you though. It's a gamble I wouldn't take if you like the clowns
