Ric split but came back together

Today my orange ric had completly split into two rics and obviously they were still close in location. I went out of the house for a few hours and when i got back they had turned back into one shroom. Is this normal or any one even had the problem?

I've noticed this before when I split them while they are on the rock. I'll cut straight down to the rock and by the end of the day it seems as-if I never cut it... Now I'll cut them and then put a rubberband around the rock and through the split.

You don't need to put a rubber band through the rock, you can just recut them once or twice in the same spot and that will usually do the trick.
