Richard's 116 Gallon Corner (1/4 Cylinder) Mix Reef

I moved the skimmer this morning, i had it setup by the return pump and the tank had micro bubbles constantly. It is now right after the refugium with a baffle in between it and the return pump

No more bubbles!

Took a video this morning and took some pics of my two Cardinal fish waiting in quarantine. I finally decided to do prohylactic treatment with paraguard and metrodozanol for worms.

I think this is the female:

I think this is the male (squarer jaw):

Will try to take pics this week end, been dosing Reef Color C for the last two weeks and coraline algae has been growing in!

Finally found my missing RBTA, in the sump! The poor girls is without color and greatly reduced, that must have been quite the ride down the overflow...

Transferred the cardinal fish from QT last night, they look great in the DT!

Took the opportunity to use my acclimate, no discoloration no reaction whatsoever, seems I got a couple they hang together all the time. They look great, one would think a silver and black fish would be kinda boring, but the markings are so sharp it looked they were painter over.

Hey Ricky, now that you have had your Kessils for a while how do you like them. I am sort of torn between these and the Radions. What I like about these is that I can buy two of them and a controller for the price of the two Radions without. However if I buy the Kessils I have to buy the controller and have less control over the color etc. What are your thoughts?

The kessils do a great job in my own opinion. Fantastic natural white light during the day, just like when you go diving in the Carribean. And I get to have lots of blues in the evening that brings out fluorescence. I am getting good growth and coloration so far. I need to borrow a camera from a friend take a few good pics.

My LFS has radions and they never behave like he wants them.

Personally I have more interesting things go do then play with the colors of my lights endlessly.

Yes I got a full glass cover and lighting through it. Currently my max light intensity is 57% I am increasing one percent every second week. I fried some frags...

Good to know about that! Was wondering what ballpark I should use coming over from t5s. What is your photo period? Do they play well with your apex? Funny you mentioned the Caribbean. We came home from a trip there last week and we were driving through savannah and saw a shop with a tank in the window. Sarah loved the look of the lighting saying it looked just like where we just were and the owner invited us in and showed his setup. He loved his kessils and said he wouldn't buy anything else. That's what started me thinking about going led. Well that, getting my t5 fixture out is a serious pita and I am just at 5 months on these bulbs and as hard as it is to get the fixture out no way am I going to stagger replacements so I am going to have to acclimate my corals anyway. Add to that she and I were both worried about the tank the whole time we were gone so an apex shot to number one requirement before another trip so why not do both at once?

The apex integration is a breeze, just have to create several lighting profiles to do sunrise day time and sun down...

I also have two hour periods at very low intensity and high blues (actinic range) in the morning and evening that I call dawn and dusk heheh. So there is some lighting from 7:15 to 11. But four hours of that is too low for photosynthesis but brings all the fluorescence, which I like.

My only hang up is they don't dim to 0, so the lights turn off at 20% intensity.

I had an Aquabeam before which could ramp so low you could use it as a moon light, however it did not render the blues as well.

Thanks! Might be asking you for your ramp profiles in the near future. Looks like I am going to pull the trigger on the Apex at least. Now to bug Salty Supply to see if I can control my Wavelines yet like RLSS promised. :)

I have the same tank you have, but i would like to see more pictures of your sump. I want to change mine in to a refug. but wasn't sure how to change it and still use my protein skimmer. Thanks
