Does anyone know what's up with RickyFins?

I sent him $ 165 via PayPal 3 months ago for fish. At first he was communicating with me telling me of one problem after another and why he hasn't shipped. Now, for the past month - nothing!!!!

He won't return emails or phone calls.

Is he still around?

Unfortunately, it is too late.

He led me on with pictures of my supposed fish, then story after story. You wouldn't believe some of the stories! Seriously!

He dropped out of our local club (Mason Dixon Reef Club) as a sponsor after issues with other members.
I wonder if he scammed anyone else.
 
why dont you go to paypal and get his real name and look up his address via the net like spokeo.com and go to his residence and ask him face to face whats up. apparently he's been ripping off alot of people and he's obviously getting away with it. put his name and address on blast all over reef central and warn others.
 
His name is Rick Pucciarella, from Smithmill,PA (outside State College/Altoona area). Believe it or not, He is still VP of NCPARS and even controls the threads posted there.

Dan (Pres) was copied in on a much more detailed email of events. This is my issue, not Dan's. I copied him as a warning to the NCPARS club members.

thank you for the heads up had no idea. sorry for your lose. guys like him give good reefers a bad name. last time i saw him was at the ncpars frag swap should meet him at the next one...
 
these are serious charges being leveled at an officer & Director of NCPARS.

I would hope to see Mr Pucciarella come on here and refute these allegations if they are untrue. If they are true, then the Board of NCPARS should immediately demand the resignation of Mr Pucciarella to disassociate from this.
 
I have heard nothing! That doesn't surprise me, as this began if February. I was led on for a couple months with pictures, stories and sad excuses. Once, he couldn't send me a fish because he couldn't catch it - Wow!

For the past month and a half, nothing. I have emailed Rick, and called him many, many times with no response at all.

Watching this from a distance, I am surprised that there has not been some sort of comment from NCPARS to this thread. If Rick is still a sitting VP of NCPARS and someone is making these type of post you would think the club would have something to say.
In any case sorry to hear you got ripped off.
 
If he would have ripped him off dues or admission fees then I can see the club stepping in to correct the issues but since this is a different matter I don't think the board should respond directly on this matter. The position he hold is not a paid position. He volunteers his time and effort just like everyone else on the board and in the club in general. It is a shame that this kind of activity is happening not only in this hobby but in society in general. This is lesson that alot of people can learn from. I'm sure that the board is aware of this activity and it will be addressed at the next board meeting. This matter will more than likely affect his chances of being "reelected" to his current position.
 
I have done some research.Local and federal law enforcement seems to believe any civil matters need to be worked out in front of a arbitrator or in the court of law.The society by laws do not give me the authority to be judge,juror or the arbitrator in these type matters.As much as I would like to straighten out this matter and any other civil matter you may have I can not nor do my duties specified by the by laws of the society say I have the authority to do so.Most times there are two sides to every story and this is why there are scales of justice and processes that can be followed in instances such as these.Proper protocol might be a magistrate or other means other then trying to get the society to do this.I assure you it cannot.I also assure you I cannot.I take no sides in any way shape or form nor am I personally responsible for the sitting board and who holds the given positions.They are not appointed by me.You as members are in charge of who resides on the board and every April there is a election .This would be the time to act.This would be the time to run for a position yourself or nominate someone you think is better for any of the elected Board of director duties.

I do not appreciate the personal attacks on the society in this forum.I kindly ask you to refrain from including me or the society in this manner.This forum is designed to supply info to the group and to help us promote the society and its mission.This thread does not seem to fit .Again I take no sides as I do not know the sides or care to.I have my own civil issues that I handle daily as a businessman and do not have the authority or duty to solve others.My opinion is meaningless and irrelevant.This matter can be handled in a intelligent way without personally attacking the society or other non involved board members.What you seem to be doing here will not get you the results you seek I can assure you of that if repayment or resolution is desired.

If you read this thread from my initial post, you see that I am looking to find out "what's up"

I did not attack NCPARS.

I did not ask you or the organization to get involved.

I am simply warning NCPARS members - most of whom seem to appreciate it! If there were two sides to this story - which there are not - I have been waiting since February to hear it. I have a PayPal receipt and early emails from Ricky explaining problem after problem, I even have pictures of my alleged fish in HIS tank. Many more details, but my intent was not to trash the guy.

If someone wanted to post concerns on NCPARS website, itself, they couldn't. Do you know why? Look at RickyFins own signature here on ReefCentral: (Search by member name)

BTW, that's his misspelling, not mine.

At the end of the day, like it or not, RickyFins reflects poorly on NCPARS.

You copy me emails between you(buyer) and Rickyfins(seller)

How is that not asking me to get involved.You are confused or are misunderstanding your actions.By sending me a email you are asking me to take time from my day and read it.Then form a opinion and act appropriately.This is clearly asking me to get involved.I did not say you (Tim) attacked the society,I used the word you which covered all posts in the thread that pertain.
 
Although I understand Dan's position that he has no authority over what the members or council members do outside the forum, I am disappointed in the "not my problem" attitude that he takes. If I WAS a council member, I would hope I wouldn't turn a blind eye to someone allegedly defrauding the members of the "club". In his statement, Dan even says the purpose of this forum is to "promote the society and its mission". I would think that this ongoing issue is definately not acheiving those goals.

Tim, I feel for you, and unfortunately there's probably nothing the society can do for you, although I applaud your attempt to warn others of this alledged scam artist. Since you DO know his name and where he lives, I would think small claims court may be an option.

Finally, I think that if ANY of the Board members are involved in illegal or criminal dealings, it IS appropriate for the members to discuss it. The Board members, whether paid or not, accepted a RESPONSIBILITY when they accepted their positions and like it or not, what they do outside the society DOES reflect on themselves and those who tolerate it. Just ask Bill Clinton! :)
 
I hope you get things worked out but a thread like this is not the best approach. You can post a thread in the buyer seller feedback forum about your transaction, lets keep third parties out of it though. Dan or the club really have -0- to do with this and it is a matter between you and the seller.
