Will 48w of T5's on a 20g be enough for rics to be happy? Found some conflicting reports. Not opposed to upgrading if I have to.

Thanks for the reply. This tank is just mushrooms right now so all I have is the 48w of t5 and I didn't know if the rics would thrive under that or not as I've found a lot of conflicting information regarding their lighting needs.

Here's a pic of the tank, though I have taken out a bit of live rock/done some rearranging since it was taken to make accommodations for the rics. My droid washes out the colors a bit but you get the general idea.

IME, Rics can thrive under a lot more diverse lighting than most people realize. In the ocean, I've seen then in water as shallow as 1 foot and also in deeper water in shaded areas.

My previous tank was a 40 BDR with one 175 watt MH and two 30 watt NO actinics and my Rics did really well. The new tank is a 92 Corner Bowfront with one 175 watt MH and eight 24 watt T5s and the Rics are doing great.

my frag tank has 4 t5 and is a 20 long I believe, 30 x 12 x 12"deep

You definitely don't need to upgrade, unless it's for enhanced brighter color and more florescence, I find that 3 x 20 000k t5 h.o and a 10 000k, seem to enhance color's. When I turn off 2 x 20 000k, then leave 1 x 10 000k and 1 x 20 000k the color's don't stand out as much.
