Ok here goes I got sent a ricordea yuma by mistake..its a long story..LOL
When I recieved it all spirocysts were "bubbly" color was great but I knew nothing about them. I put it about a foot down from lights (65w CF and 65w actinic) it gets nice light. It turned dark after a few days and shrunk up. I learned that they eat a lot. What does it eat? I've been feeding ground up fish flakes and crushed mysis in a syringe. It got its color back but is very small still, spirocysts are tiny, mouth is open. Help please! I don't want it to die. Is there a better food? Is the lighting right?

You really do not need to feed it. Also you may want to put it at the bottom of the tank for a few weeks and see how it does.

I have NEVER fed my Yumas and they have spread and grown. :)

I agree with Dubbin, they don't have to be fed "directly" and you may also want to keep in mind that they prefer low flow.

If you're getting too close to it trying to feed it, it will close up on you.

Just give it some time.

Agree with Dubbin also, may want to put it in a shaded spot for a few days, most ricodia doesn't need lots of light as they are generally found on the sides and underneath ledges in the wild.

I feed mine very little but if this is a fairly new tank you may need to to get them health.

Also agree with waterbug about the flow
BTW aterbug I love your avatar Cooool!

Ive had one for awhile now and he feeds for himself. I never target feed any of my corals.

what are your water parameters?? No, ricordea don't need to fed, and they do like low flow and lowwer lights, your lighting should be fine, but keep in mind, it probably came from higher lighting and needs a chance to get used to your tank.
