Ricordia in Quarantine

This is my first time with a ricordia mushroom so I have a question regarding quarantining it. While I have it in a quarantine tank, do I need to feed it anything? The tank is bare except for the rock that the ricordia is attached to. Thanks.

Shouldn't need to feed it. If you want to, it won't hurt (unless you drop too much in and it pollutes the water). I've had luck with brine shrimp and blood worms as mushroom food.

Only if you are as paranoid as I am. SPS pests (and softie and LPS flatworms) can come in on anything you put in your tank. I'd rather make sure it doesn't get in than tear my tanks down again to get rid of the pests...

Well, regular ole planaria aren't much of a concern usually (unless they populate the tank unchecked). My spotted mandarin loves em:). What you can do is a Flat Worm eXit dip before introducing it into the tank. FWE does a pretty good job killing them if there is no rock to hide in (i.e. in the bag).

Just make sure your QT has decent flow\aeration but get the guy in your main tank with lights.. sunlight is its diet :)

I have this for lights on the 10 gallon QT:

Power Compacts
Daylight 6,700k/10,000k: 1 x 40 watt
Actinic 420nm/460nm: 1 x 40 watt

I thought that would be alright for short-term for the ricordia.

So is it safe to put it in my main tank now after being in quarantine for 1 week? Would I have seen parasites by now if I was going to?

I would think the lighting should be fine for the ric. I also think it would be fine to move it in after a week if you haven't seen anything on it. there is a low likelihood of somethign really bad getting in on something like a ric, but it is possible. If it were me, with alot of sps, etc., I'd probably give it a dip (Tropic Marin Pro Coiral Cure has worked for everything I've dipped so far in terms of not being too harsh, but I follow the dosage to a T for softies and other things it is not intended for-my SPS get a triple dose and longer exposure...), but like I've said, I'm paranoid these days...
