Does anybody know how to get these little guys to detach from a rock mine are starting to crowd some other folks in the tank.

If you take the rock out of the tank and gently go around the edge of the ric with your finger they should close up a little. Then take a razor blade and cut the foot as close to the rock as possible. I was really worried about doing this but gave it a try on 2 of my 15 cluttered ric's. I even cut a foot a little high up on one of them and they both survived :) It was much easier than I thought.

Which species of Ricordea and did the feet grow into new ones?

I have the orange ones. I took the loose ones and placed them in my fuge on some rubble rock and they re-attached within a day or so.

They split by moving a little and then leaving a small piece of their foot behind. the little piece they leave turns into a new head.

Like a regular Johnny Ricordia-seed leaving some behind whereever they go.

That would be a Ricordia Yuma. Ricordia Florida split by growing/splitting (not sure which) new heads.
