ricordia

whats the secret to keeping ricordia successfully? I never seem to be successful with them, even though all my lps and even other softies (trees) seem to do well

well on my 55 that i have tried them, it has 2x150W lights over it one bulb is 14K the other 20K, and then 2X55w PC actinics. The flow is the return a koralia nano and koralia 2 in the tank. They never seem to excel, i do a 5gal water change every weekend or a 10 gal every other weekend. I am currently setting up a 10 gal with hob filter that i want to dedicate to ricordia and zoa's hence my original question.

I have several Ricordia with three (bluish with orange trim) that are loving near the top of my tank (about 6 inches below the water line). They have been there for about 9 months. I have a 75G with T5's. (4 x 55W - 2 actinics and 2 10K). I run the actinics for 10 hours and all lights for 9 of those hours (1/2 hour before and after with actinics only) My water flow on them is moderate at best.. I have some newer ones (about a dozen in various colors) that are near the middle of the tank and doing well, but the ones at the top seem the happiest. The newer ones may get as large at the top ones, but if they slow down I will move them up too. For appearance sake I was hoping they would like it near the middle, but will do whatever to make them happy. good luck..

What kinda of ricc have you been getting? I think florida ricc are way easier to keep then yumas. I've had many yumas just melt away. They seem very picky about light and flow conditions where the florida riccs in my tank do well anywhere i put them. I recently started feeding them pellets twice a week and they seem to be growing faster.

I'm talking about true ricordia, florida ricordia, although I am interested in Yumas as well but the florida ricordia primarily. I guess next time i should try to feed them a little bit? I think i am going to go LED over my 10 gal that i will dedicate to these softies.
