i just purchased a squamosa and want some more of the clams that require more light but i dont have enough lighting at the time so i was going to upgrade to 2 2000k 150 W. with 2 actinic blue flourescents. is this good for a clam/sps tank?

its 55 (48 by 12 by 18)
which would be better a 14 or 10? because i heard that i should go with a 10k from my lfs

Clams and SPS prefer the 10K. Not that you can't keep them with 14K or 20K, but they will do much better for you with higher calvine bulbs.

if i get a fixture that comes with 20k then could i switch them and get 10k or would i be stuck with 20?

You can use what ever calvin bulb you want. You would just have to switch them out after the 20K's wear out. Make sure there isn't an option for the bulb on the fixture you are looking at buying. Most companies offer a 10K or 20k option.

he's trying to say to look for an option when buying the light (like on hellolights.com). sometimes the store will give you an option of what kind of bulb to get. i have a 20k bulb on my tank with a crocea and i am not convinced he really likes it. i like the color of the 20k, but the clam wont really open up like when he was at the lfs under 14k lights. although he seems healthy otherwise.
