Been meaning to go out to Rik's house to pick up a chiller and also to take pics of his tank. Had the chance yesterday and I was able to get some really good shots. I'll share the stand outs and you can browse the whole set here:

Before I post all of this, I will warn you, I only know like 10% of the names of the corals, so I won't even try to name them unless I know for sure that is what it is lol

I'll start with 2 of my favorites:

This is literally this neon color. I actually had to tone down the saturation on this it was so vibrant!

That BBEB colony is absolutely astonishing. Really nice colony for sure. I knew immediately I wanted to do a photo stack on it.

Rick. You forgot to mention the gear.

I shoot with a Full Frame Sony a99. I used a Sigma 24-70 2.8 as well as a Tamron 90 2.8 macro with extension tubes here and there.

Top downs were taken with an Avast tube thingy that Rik had which was really cool. First time experience for me on that.

Also, all the fish picks were taken with flash. I completely failed in flash photography when I did it at Dave's, but here it was a little easier.

Thanks all.

I have had the Tam90 for at least 4 yrs. The great thing about this lens is that it doubles up as a great portrait lens. Its bokeh rendering is absolutely gorgeous and I can't believe this version of this lens actually sells so cheap, typically around $300

Really good job btw

Thank you :)

Been gone all day and evening and am delighted to come home and see this! Yesterday was more fun for me then I can describe. Rick, I'm really glad I've finally got to meet you in person. You're a photo guru and I'm so impressed with your knowledge, equipment and as all can see your skills. I consider you a friend and look forward to hanging around with you more often and lending you a hand in your upcoming nano startup. Thank you for all you did.

Woah...Awesome colors on that red planet.
Yeah, the red planet really caught my eye

Can't wait to see this tank in person tomorrow!
You will be impressed!

Dang... shoulda had you shoot my tank before it crashed :-(
I'm sorry your tank crashed Brent. If you need help with anything, just give me a shout out, you know I am literally down the street from you ;)

The pleasure was all mine Rik.

If anyone else would like for me to shoot their tank, just let me know. I am simply trying to hone in my skills at shooting SW tanks more so when the time comes to take pics of mine when it is up and running, I will know generally what it is I want.

For example, I told Rik that last time I photographed Dave's tank, I completely failed with flash photography. This time around, I wanted to play with it a little more and at the end, I got pretty much what I wanted out of the shots. This is the kind of progression I am looking for in my own photography.

I honestly don't ask for anything in return for shooting some pictures. It is a great hobby for me, and one that actually has given me money by taking on side jobs, but I never look for the jobs, they always come to me haha.

I'll let you use mine but first I want to paint it blue and put the Dodgers logo on it

:lolspin:

Oh I don't hate the dodgers. I just hate baseball. Oh and the devil colored SUC team, and any other NFC team besides the Cardinals, and any AFC team playing the Cardinals, oh and Lakers fans. Not the Lakers, just the fans
