Hello-

Is there a way to take the black trim off?

probably not a good idea. The black plastic gives the rim some extra rigidity around the top and it might weaken the overall structure of the pod. Besides it may make it easier to accidentally chip or ding the edge of the tank causing stress cracks to form. Not to mention that it probably wasnt ground down at the factory and is most likely sharp as hell.

Im no expert but I would have to imagine that because the sides and front are one piece of glass that they are fairly strong without the rim. However don't do anything until someone with more experience in this says it's ok.
