Versus,

Do you have a build thread? I like your tank.

Not yet I am awaiting some items to come in before I start the actual build process .

I have owned larger tanks but personally without real access to auto top off of any sorts ( house just is not designed for it unless I include a gigantic bucket next to the tank ).

And with the design not being what I had expected , I am debating how it will all come together . I should have one up in a week or so though .

Also debating buying another BK mini as the msx 200 just takes up too much room under the tank .

This is now wet and has rock in it I will post a picture up once I get the time.

The giessemann is nice. Is it a 250watt?

I agree, and I like the cord/wall cover idea used to hide the cord down the wall, guess that's pretty typical stuff you can buy at the Home Depot or Lowes?

Thanks for the kind comments, this is my dream tank and I hope it will turn into something special.

Yeah the lighting is a 250w as in sig, very nice unit.

The tank was built by an independant tank maker over here he is 68 and been making glass tanks for 35yrs I am very pleased with the quality of his work.

The cable cover is pretty much available at most DIY/hardware stores (at least it is in the UK).

i see alot of you all putting foam board under the rimless tanks. is that necessary? what do you use? just 1/2" insulation from homedepot?

I use the pink insulation panels from HD. The 8'x4' 1/2" think panel is about $10. They do a great job leveling the tank, in case there is any unevenness in the surface.

I would like to enjoy your classy club .. We should all get with each other and have tea sometime and crumpets.. krumpets..

24wx32lx20h Aquarium Obs , Its built like a tank. Some problems have came up but was neither really me nor Johns fault just some emails getting fixed up. I planned on a corner overflow but i guess the rear is a better design I just hope it fits in the place correctly.

I have this issue now. Anyway, I will have to make it work. What is the size of your everflow box? Are you happy overall with the tank?

My 10 gallon nano. It would be cool to see some tank that floats in midair and has no visible piping. :-) I'll try to build some extremely cool 3 gallon pico jelly fish tank in the summer and catch some jellies right in the ocean (new york, east coast) where i live.
It may look like this - all transparent hexagon standing on its side. Since jellies don't need much light or sand, I can even try to hide the lighting attaching a small color led to each side and running them from a miniature power supply.

Here is my 10 g. and a small sketch...

I am very happy with the build quality , And John@AO is a great guy . But am I happy about what happened? No , but I tend to be the type not to complain I get chicken instead of fish I do not say a word , sh*t happens. .. In a way I had to eat 900 bucks but at the same time I still have a good aquarium its just not designed for where its going and unfortunately if I want it anywhere in the house now its 2 pieces of starphire and the 1 side isnt.. its kind of noticeable .. Not like I have another place to put it anyway.

The tank is at work I know the overflow is 6 inches deep , about 8 wide . It is bothersome since when you come in the house you will now kind of see the whole rear of the tank and cords etc .

Most of all because I do not make much , I lost my "decent" job a few years back . so from 49k a year to 22k and still having a lot of the same bills.. an extra 900 takes awhile to build up. let alone the 3000 it took too buy everything .

So its an issue of "my time" than the money itself it took me 1 year and 3 months to save 900 dollars .

It happens I suppose.

Quick update, Ignore the heater in the display the sump is not yet online (I am doing this today) the water level will be an inch higher yet, and I need to get some coarser sand for the front of the display, Oh and I also need to fill it up with SPS frags :D.

I love this tank, but I'm curious why you were forced to lose one side of the tank, only giving you 2 viewable sides?

Entirely down to space limitations, it is the only location I could fit it in, unfortunately that was against a corner wall. If it was up to me I would have it right in the middle of the room with everyside viewable but I had to make some comprimises.

Exactly my issue , mine is basically precko's but now a large gap off the wall .

that was an issue that I had also. Put a 120 in an extra bedrooms' corner or make it smaller and display it in the livingroom on all sides. I decided that I want it out in the open with everyone. That way all of the work I do can be seen plus now its next to the plasma and when the wife wants to watch those HGTV shows I can zone out to the tank. The antisipation is starting to kill me.

Hey guys this thread is great!!

I have a question for you guys tho...

Where would you reccommend me getting a tank from. I want to get a rimless 60 to 70g glass aquarium that is reef ready with drilled overflows, but i cant seem to find any good places.

Any info would be great!

Thanks
