Is that silicone regular aquarium silicone? Normally brace-less tanks have a stronger silicone that really allows the tank to be built that way. Last I heard there isn't a clear silicone that will hold on a brace-less tank. Some people don't like the black silicone (I do like the black) but as of yet there is no cost effective clear silicone.

Dow Corning 995 is the best silicone for building large aquariums, i think, based on diferent comments here on RC. I do not know if it is a clear silicone, or dark. Problem is that there realy is no objective source of information on the (measured) strenght of different types and brands of silicone.

I wonder if there is an industry-standard by which the silicones could be tested. I would suppose that for instance a building company that uses large and heavy panes of glass, is gonna ask some serious comparison before they choose which type of silicone they gonna use on sky scrapers.

"Tensile Bond Strength, Adhesion Strength and Tear Strength of Silicone - Look at Dow Corning 999-A (325psi) or GE RTV108 (400psi) or GE SCS1200 (470psi) or Dow Corning V2 sealant. Remember that silicone's primary strength is to itself, not what it is bonded too and also silicone's adhesion strength in general does not approach its tensile strength". All these products have DATA SHEETS to look at for information.

I have no ideas what they are called.... I just picked them up from my LFS and even the owner doesn't know the name. I am pretty sure they can be found in the fish atlas tho

Thanks, likghts consist of 2 l3 mini's with 250w hamilton 10k's and 4 t5's overdriven by an icecap 660. the t5 bulbs are two uvl pure actinics and two ati blue plus!

Apogon Parvulus or Red Spot Cardinals,they're pretty rare, and from what I've heard (which isn't much) they don't ship well.

I used Perennator silicon (sold in the USA by Aquamedic) for my tank as I read it is stronger than Dow Corning silicon and specifically made for making tanks. I know shops in Singapore make tanks with it and guarantee them for 20 years.

Felix, they are from Indonesia which is only 5 hrs away from us, I just called my LFS and they said these cardinals are still doing fine.... so I guess I'll go pick a few more!
