Rimless in Bangkok - 48" x 30" x 26"

I went to the glass holes website...Very funny video on how to drill glass :D When the pan back it looks like he is wearing a dress ... maybe it was a shop apron???? Besides that the sound effects are funny. Thanks for the laugh glass holes

I like the products too.

Sorry I forgot, I really like the tank as well. I like that the overflow is so small and that they eurobraced the bottom...should be much stronger.

There is a pipe to go in the hole. Yes it is a silencer.

I must admit the Glass-holes website worried me a little at the start as it seemed a bit scattered. However they were really professional and very very helpful to me when I had questions about overflows and sumps - which I am new too. I have only run sumpless systems in the past.

Thanks for the comments guys.. Sump will be coming in a few weeks and I hope to have a sketch-up of the light rack by Friday to be completed in 3 weeks.

Hi Marlon

Thanks for the links. I will post pics of the light rack as soon as I have the sketch-up.

The PC fan grill will be stainless steel. Is that ok? I have not ordered it yet.

I will post interior pics later tonight.

Here are the pics from inside the cabinet. I asked the maker to leave the frame exposed as I like to be able to utilise it for hanging stuff. Plus I can see what they did too. Normally Thai cabinet makers like to cover up the frame so everything is pretty and you cant see any of their stuff ups lol.

You may notice that some of the wood work is not the same side to side. That is due to the asymetrice design. The basic frame is standard however.

I may have a delay coming up.. Not sure. My apartment is telling me all sorts of funny storys about how the floor in my room can only take 450 to 300kg per square meter. If that is true I will move when my lease is up Nov 10th.

ps. sorry about the ironing board legs in the pics of the rectangular port hole hahah..

personally, it it were my tank, I would probably get
pair of neon gobies
pair of some kind of shrimp goby
pair of banngai cardinals
group (7ish) of blue eye cardinals
trio of jawfish
pair of blue stipe pipefish
pair of banded or dragonface pipes
plus the fish you listed on your first page (the ones that hang out in gorgs)

Hi Everyone

Sorry to not post for so long, but a few things have made me stop and think about whether or not to keep setting this tank up where I am living in Thailand. I cant be certain that the floor will take the weight of my tank in this apartment and I am sick of dealing with dodgy employers.

My original plan was to return to Australia mid to late 2010. I am now planning to return as early as July next year.

I will still be getting some new equipment such as the skimmer and light rack made here and will ship it back with all my other things. I will post the pictures as I do this. I will set up the tank next year when I return to Australia and continue posting progress then too.

where did you get that rimless tank here in Bangkok?

Normally, local fish tank stores don't do it due to safety reason.

well, finally get to see some real work here...keep it up!

It was something of an ordeal to get it made. I had to design and get the glass cut myself. The cut to size Diamant glass came from Thai German Glass Company in Bangkok. They are on the web - very helpful.

Then I had to find a tank maker to make it for me: no easy task as most have zero knowlege of making one and so dont want to do it, thinking it will break. It took a lot of explaining about using extra thick glass. The maker who did it was a small shop. So he was way cheaper than others too, but the job seems good.

There is a tank maker that has it's factory in Isaan (Little Whale) that will make them, has experience doing it and will deliver to other parts of Thailand such as Bangkok. I didnt use them as they wanted to ship my diamant glass to Isaan to make it. I am told they can source it though. I had already bought mine.

Well the next challlenge will be getting it crated up to ship back next year LOL...

haha, that's gonna be tons of work!
as for Little Whale, you can trust them...they make good decent tanks.
I have a custom 128g rimless prop tank sitting in my fishroom too...but it's 60*33*15 instead. It was also made right here in my fishroom, they carried them up here to my floor and did it before my eyes. You know, at first I thought that Littlewhale do take on-site job too. well, I had mine made by Nisashon...the owner was once in construction business before...so he kinda knows what to do and what not to do when it comes to rimless tank.
It looked not so safe at first but after I added water in it...I kinda felt much much safer.

It's funny that I have exact the same light (t5*4 DE) for my old 50G too. The light is great, you will love it too.

where did you get all those calcium reactor and moodlight from ? you must have paid a lot for shipping/handling cost. ??!
