RIP, Questions?

breutus

Don't ask me, I'm wrong.
well last week I purchased a target mandarin from GWA and it seemed as though it had been doing well in the tank. I was feeding live and frozen brine shrimp that it seemed to be happy with along with the other things I feed the tank. And the tank has been set up for a long time well over a year now, so I figured it was established enough for it. But this morning I did not see it out and about, so I started looking around and it seemes as though it was eaten completly I don't know what by, but picked clean.

Is there anything I have to worry about with toxins or anything in the tank from a dead mandarin, would one of the other fish have killed it.
Two Clowns (false perc)
Coral Beauty,
Yellow Tang.
there is also various softies and a few bubble tips.

Bummer

If it was picked clean, you most likely have a hitchhiking stone crab. I had an Eriphia sebana that was quite vicious. http://images.google.com/imgres?img...m=10&hl=en&rls=GGIT,GGIT:2007-03,GGIT:en&sa=N However, I've seen Eunicid worms take out small blennies, gobies, and dragonets as well.

Occasionally, a starving mantis will resort to eating a fish but not often. With that said, they would have taken it to their den and you would not have found the carcass. Additionally, they bury their leftover food if there's still meat on it.

Curt, you give me warm fuzzies.

LOL!!!

I don't know what to do with you non-mantis owners.

:D

I keep mantis on purpose. I know their behavior. I don't like stone crabs.

also I actually had a stone crab in there recently and I had left him in there for a long time but my zoos were turning up missing and I blamed him so i took him out. I don't think i have any others but theres never any way to know for sure I guess

They look like a mad scientist attached the front end of a praying mantis to the back end of a shrimp.
