Rip Rvrc Forum

Not sure if anyone else feels the same way. I check every day to see whats going on with everyone. There are so many great people out there in this area with good looking tank.
I wondered why people in this area post on other club forums verses RVRC. We have gone over this before, about closing down RVRC. I just think that it is redundant to post the same post in 2 club forums. There are some many locals with a lot of info and willing to help at the drop of a hat.
I myself have found myself posting more on the RRC being that it is a lot more active than RVRC.
I hope that there is a way for us as a group to become more active within the club and help/trade with one another.
Just my 2c.

Ade:)

I'm new to this forum. I live in the Lynchburg area which is just about the end of the earth for reefers. I would always prefer to interact with reefers that I can establish more than a message board relationship with...periodic meetings, frag swaps, group buys, etc.

I found out about UA from a post inquiring about good LFS. I made the trip to Salem a couple of days later and met doc's69 while there and bought a few frags and a fish.

I'm planning to make at least a brief visit to the April meeting at ade's (prior to the VT football spring game).

I plan to be a regular on this board but would like to see more activity as well. I will also continue to use other boards that have more activity.

well, I wish we could have more local events. I try to help answer questions when people have them, but it really just isn't that many post to reply to. I think there are a lot of reefers out there that don't know about RC. Maybe we could have an event to promote the reef club and advertise outside of RC. I always ask people at the store if there are on RC and a lot of times they say no. Maybe we just need to build up our members.

If someone wanted to make a nice looking flyer for RC and the club you can hang it in the store. I'm sure someone out there can make something nicer looking than I would be able to come up with. There's also a lot of people that know about the club, but just don't have interest unfortunately. We've told quite a few about it here at the store.

I've given my ideas and opinions in the past so I'll hold back this time. I think it's going to take pretty major changes to make any difference in this club.

HOC, I highly respect any store that would help promote a local reef club.  It is unfortunate that others are not interested enough to participate. I live for any meeting any time any place. Sounds like it is time for a Roanoke area crawl. I would be happy to be a part of that crawl. Ade, you know I'll be there next Saturday to go to your meeting at your house. How many people are coming out to your meeting. What do you need me to bring other than my sexy self. :D Michael R

I have to agree with all your posts. And feel the frustration at times myself. I believe more members is the key. It took me over 2 years to find the RVRC and RC just doing internet searches one day I came across it after looking for a Lynchburg reef club. Its crazy before joining this forum I was using the RARE forum out of raleigh.

Being able to advertise in a store is gerat and selfless. You all think its bad, but I know there have to be a lot of folks in lynchburg and only a couple that I know of use RC. It sure seems like only good things come from the club and the more people we can get involved the better it will be for all.

Ade I will be there next week and still want to try a Mag-18 if you have one.

I think Michael said it best, twice even  :p :D

There are alot of people interested in the area but levels of interest are obviously different among all of us. I always take it as no news is good news and everything must be doing OK. I don't post more often because most of my thoughts/questions don't seem post-worthy. I'm kinda stagnating about getting myself in gear and moving the fishroom to the basement. It will finally happen in 2 weeks when I have some extra days off, but anyway. I feel off working 3rd shift, so if anyone knows of a good job let me know!

dadyoj21,

I live near you in Forest (Gilfield Village next to Ivy Hill). Interested in a reciprocal visit? I have a 225g in-wall in a finished basement since last summer. I've recently been adding some frags and fish to what I moved from my 90g. I hunt at Lone Pine Farm in Goode from time to time.

AIMFish,

My tank is in my finished basement. While i'm generally happy with my layout, there are a few things I would like to change. Be glad to share some thoughts based on your specific plans.

Virginia Reef I foresee a meet at your place soon.lol
This is what I am talking about. So many great guy and gals I don't understand why we can't do a lot more. Guy's like dadyoj21 travel from Goode to come to RVRC meets and if you haven't met him you are missing out.
I thought it was because I am Welsh that people didn't want to reply.lol
Thanks to HOC for the offer to promote the club through the Store.
For those that would like to step forward and make a RVRC flyer would be great.
Thanks All
Ade

Oh crap he figured it out!:eek2: :fun5: Everyone act cool around the W**** guy and act like everything is OK  :lolspin:

hey virginia reef it would be great if you host, a short drive would be a nice change for me and I know a few others from the Lynchburg area would probably attend. I would also like to see another in-wall tank as I am thinking about doing a large in-wall myself in the future (hopefully not too distant)

And by the way Ade my wife ahs given me the go ahead to host a meet. But she would prefer a summer meet when the pool is open so if anyone wanted to bring kids along or do the cookout thing. I am thinking June or July.

My tanks are not as impressive as some, but they are not to shabby for the modest budget they were put together with. I also have a pretty good set up for a get together (pool table , pool and plenty of room)

Ade, I thought you were Austrian, gooday mate! Welsh, please post some of those pictures of yourself in your skirt. Oh, I mean kilt. You the man Ade, you the man. Michael R :D

well, I would love to make it to a meet IF I did not have to work to support my HABBITS (take a guess) Ade would love to see your set-up

You guys are more than welcome to post a flyer at P.A.W. promoting the club.

Most of my current and former employees seem to be members anyway

Chris

Michael why do you to see me in a kilt? Have you been dreaming again. Michael NO means NO! lol

For those that want to wait until their tank is ready to host a meet. Just to let you all know my tank will never be the way I want it and right know I am over run with majano.
Just thought that you should all know so that you don't expect this great tank. There are a LOT of better looking tanks in the valley.
I just miss the meets of the past and seeing you all. Thanks to Chris I see a lot more of you all but it also cost me $$$$$$ every time I go to the store. So I thought that it would be a lot cheaper for me for you all to come to me.
Thanks
Ade

Hey guys.
I'm new to RC and RVRC please don't go anywhere!! I have many questions and I do not know anyone personally in Roanoke that I can talk with.

I do know Chris at P. A. W. and he has been a wealth of information and assistance. His store is also the fiinest LFS I have ever been to.
I work out of town so meets could be tricky to attend with limited time on the weekends but I would love to try.

Anyway, I guess this is my "Here I am!" post.

Thanks
