Risk with Flasher/Fairy Wrasse

Wanted to check what is the risk in mixing wrasse in a 180g tank. I know there is always an individual factor with fish, just want to see how many of you have mixed them up without issues (and what species), as well as how many of you have had bad experiences mixing them.

I had not thought of an acclimation box, but I'll get one.

noticed most flashers are red and about the same size, while fairy wrasse that are red tend to also be around the 3" mark, but those that are darker in color tend to be larger.... are there any species combinations that tend to work better than others? My first thought is the smaller ones would fight since they look closer in appearance, but not sure if getting different colored ones would simply end in the larger ones chasing the smaller ones.....

I have the following in my 72x24x21 tank. No problem with aggression issues. Agree with the acclimation box. The only issue I had was a very brief spat between the Lineatus and Pink Margin faries. The box made it not be a problem.

Cirrhilabrus : jordani, isocoles, lyukyuensis, rubrimarginatus, lineatus

Paracheilinus : flavianalis, rubricaudalis, attenuatus, lineopunctatus

Halichoeres : chrysotaenia, chrysus

Macropharyngodon : geoffroyi

This article by Evolved will help you avoid species that don't play nice together.

that article was really helpful hogfanreefer, thanks!

I'm assuming as well tangs tend to ignore wrasse, is that fair?

Depends on the individual Tang. But for the most part, Tangs tend to only be extra aggressive to other Tangs and sometimes Angels, Butterflyfish or Rabbitfish. They usually only show Wrasses who's boss, rather than beating them to death.
