So today I bought the RKL3 and hope its good. How many people like them. I got the last one in stock.

I've been running a Lite base since Christmas, just running heats, lights and dosing pump off of it, but it's nice. I'm debating whether to buy 2 more PC4s or just build an arduino based timer system that does very simple light/pump control and use get a net module and sl1 to use the RK to simply monitor my tank and control the non-timer items.

ORP is oxidation reduction potential, sort of boils down to a way of measuring water purity.

I had an RKL for a while. Traded up shortly for RKE. RKL or RKE are both pretty darn nice. The first few hours are tough to get it setup. Once you get to the ah ha moment they are pretty easy to use and endless in what you can do.

Brandon, You need to change your picture. Your acan makes me jealous sick to my stomach every time I see it. :)

With all the delays from DA, after seeing both the RKE / RKL, and the inability to program the unit from the net module, I would not buy either. I'm sure they are good units in their own right, though.

I'm 100% happy with my Apex - Neptune Systems for me.

DA's problem currently is mostly a PR issue IMO. They are darn good controllers and provide solid functionality. The only features I'd like to see is the web based control and named ports. Neither of those effect in any way my ability to use my RKE and be very happy.

i have the rkl3 and i like it. it would be nice to name the ports but mvlk is right you will mess with it for hours then a light will come on angels will sing and you will be able to work it like a pro my temp prob took a crap on me after a few months

ANoyne who has an RK system also has a good resources here in the club for help. I am happy to help out with programming and issue guidance.

Which reminds me, I need to call SandalScout as he needs some assitance with programming for his dosing pumps.

i should get it on tue, they said and i might need help but i'm pretty good with this stuff, we'll see........

I like my RKL.

Make sure when you hook up the PC4 to the head unit you get a green light for status. I spent a really, really long time trying to program the unit before I figured out they had sent me a bad head unit.

so i got it in and set it up man it was a pain. Took 3 time to get the ph right and then i messed up the itemp but i hope i got it back now lol.... I got everything up and running on it and on thur i put my t5 retrofit on to offset the 10k's i have in there. I'm gonna have 2 250w 10k and 4 t5, fiji purple,03 tru blue, ati blue +, and uv super actinic R, make them corals pop out on you.... I think this was a good choice.. i'll see in the morning if the lights come on and the temp changes after 2 hours of MH on... My ph probe is stilll reading 8.23 and the test kit said 8.4 so dont know but i can still do the test kit and be on point. thanks

dvmkv, It certainly can be a pain to setup the first time. However, the worst is over. Now that you have done it, you will find it easy to use and very reliable. :)
