ro/di and Chloramine

Ok, talked to the city and they said they don't use chloramine, but use chlorine. I then looked up the state report for my cities water and it shows 2.5 ppm max reading of chloramines. Does this mean I need an ro/di for chloramines or is the level of 2.5 ok for a regular carbon block unit.

I asked the same question a while back to BRS and filterguys. My city report claims 2.2 ppm chloramines. Both recommended a chloramine RO/DI system. I think the logic is any chloramines are bad because without the special catalytic carbon the RO system will convert the chloramines into ammonia. That"s what I got from the BRS guys and their latest video on chloramines says pretty much the same.

I went with the BRS 6 stage deluxe with dual DI. Very nice system, reasonably priced and easy to setup.

I looked up my city water report also and saw that it had chloramines in it also. I just went with the five stage plus with the chloramine for my RO/DI unit. It wasn't very much extra money for that and water is the most important thing IMO. Without it, you can't do much...

Don't go by your citys report, test the water yourself. About 15 years ago I found out the hard way my water tested to have 4.0ppm of chlorine, more than what a swimming pool requires.

Austin uses chloramine and I have used the basic Buckeye Field Supply premium RODI system for 4 years now without noticeable issue in my tank.

I seem to recall a post, years ago, by AzDesertRat(I think) who was a water guy and he stated one didn't need the chloramine special system. So, that's what I went with.

I'm curious if others have had the same outcome as me.
