This was in one of the e-mails i got after ordering a booster pump for my RO/DI unit:
BOOSTER PUMP INSTRUCTIONS:
The booster pump is installed between the water feed and the first stage filter.
Recommend putting your pump on a timer or it will burn out (for example a lamp timer) let it run for ½ hour or so 3 times a day.
Dose it burn it out to leave it on too long or is it that it will burn out if the RO unit shuts off while its still pluged in? I only run my RO unit when I'm home and DO NOT have an auto shut off on it. I am religous about turning it foo when I dont NEED water. Maby an hour or 2 a day. I plan on pluging in the pump RIGHT next to the unit where I shut it off and putting a reminder note. SO is it just that it will burn out if the unit is off and the pump is on, or is it that it will burn out if left on for more than a few hours?
please reply.
