RO/DI problem..

Ok I replaced all my filters sediment, carbon and membrane. I replaced the di resin and I am sure have a problem because resin completly changed color immediately my psi is at 20.. Not sure what the problem is.. Maybe the plumbing? leak? flow restrictor? I have a 90 gpd from spectrapure and went with the 99% rejection rate membrane..

At this point I am totally lost.. I do have a flush kit installed on this system

was it working correctly at some previous point, or has it always had this problem?

any chance the lines are criss crossed, and you're dumping waste water through your DI resin somehow?

yes was working I took it apart and sanitized the system.

here is some pics:

Why is your psi only at 20? Was it always that low?

What is the tds of your tap, and post ro before di?

Does it seem like water is being made faster than before?

I will almost guarantee you just didn't pack the DI resin tight enough when you changed it out... Had this happen to me a month ago, expired the resin after 150 gallons.

Right now I am using no resin and took out membrane until I figure out why my PSI is only at 20.. ugh.. You think my flow restrictor messed up?

I think the lack of resin allows the water to move through the system faster because it isn't passing through tightly packed resin, the faster the water is allowed to move through the system the lower the pressure is going to be.

I figured it out. I had the membrane backward. Did I ruin the membrane? Now my resin is brown in color so I am guessing need to change my resin because of this mistake.. ugh

I was gonna ask if you put the membrane in backwards but then saw it was out of the unit... also have done that lol, if the resin is brown its exhausted and needs to be replaced shortly. I doubt you ruined the membrane, its the same as flushing it if your system is equipped, your carbon block, sediment filter, and DI resin all took a pretty good hit to their longevity though.

You didnt ruin the membrane but killed the di. Just put the membrane in correctly and replace the di and you should be good to go. Not sure how you can put a membrane in backwards though as the rubber gasket should have stopped it from going in all the way.

My thoughts exactly. Also, why would this cause his sediment filters to take a hit on their longevity? Seems like only the DI would affected here.

When I did it on accident a while back, it went in almost all the way... enough to think it was in but also enough to leak out through the threads on the membrane chamber/canister (whatever its called). Don't underestimate someones ability to screw something up.... I will prove you wrong lol

There would not be a 'hit' on the filters and carbon block. Water had to flow through them to get to the membranes.
