RO/DI Problems

Where am I?

I just bought this DI resin maybe 3-4 weeks ago, and it is already reading 2ppm. I water first reading is 120-140ppm, RO is 10-18 ppm, then DI is 1-2ppm. The water pressure I use is around 20 psi. I have no way of raising this. Buying a RO pump is out the question. What is going on is the RO membrane just garbage. I bought the membrane in nov. the other to filters were bought about the same time. It just seems like its better to buy water then use RO/DI.

RO membrane perform better at higher psi. 20 psi house pressure seems a bit low to me. Do you have city water or well water?

Its city water and on a military installation. I have no control over anything.I know 20 is way to low.

Ive already stated that the pumps are not an option as I will be leaving in a few months and know I will have better water pressure then. I just need to now what is going on because I havent even made 200 gallons with this new DI cart. I am going to take it apart and see what is going on with the RO.

The low water pressure is most likely what's causing your problems.. Not much you can do about that if the booster pump is not an option. The high TDS off the membrane is causing you to burn through the DI resin quick.

The way I figure it, the membrane is running at 88% efficiency which is way low.

You can try checking to see if the membrane is seated in the housing properly, if it's not, you may be bleeding waste water into the product. My money's on the pressure tho...
