RO/DI question

So I need to make some changes with my current setup.

I was lucky enough to get a used unit from Jimmer a year and a half ago. I got new filters for it and it has worked fine for awhile.

Now there's a leak in the system and the saddle valve has been leaking, and also doesn't reliable shut-off all the way.

Our water bill subsequently has been on the rise.

Now we are looking at replacing this setup and are wondering if there is a unit that can filter the whole houses' supply. Our water in the village is pretty nasty, with typical readings around 400-600 tds.

Also, I can't stand the saddle valve. If there is no way to do the whole house, I wouldn't mind going with a more typical setup but omitting the damn saddle valve. There are units that I can just hook up to the hose bib I have in the basement, yes?

TIA!!!

as far as whole house yes there are but they are around 1200 bucks if you want a tds of 0 but to be honest the water taste terrible. as far as the saddle valve you are going to have to remove it and solder a coupling in so you might as well solder in a tee and put a **** off that converts copper to 1/4 inch r/o tubing

Jeff the current location isn't perfect so I will probably just couple it and chose a different spot to "tap."

I just kind of liked the portable, hook-to-hose bib, idea but if that's not that great an idea I can certainly mount the new unit to the wall and chose a site to use as the feed elsewhere.

What are the best, leak-free connections to go from copper to airline?

basically the best connection to use is anything meant for an ice maker they actually make a compression on thats available in either 3/4 or 1/2 in copper compression by 1/4 in "airline" personally I would solder one instead of using compression but that depends on how well you can solder. you can use a hose bib for sure but you would need a drain a laundry tub usually works great

Not really sure I think its just I walk into basements and see the ridiculous stuff homeowners do wih them ant it looks really stupid
