RO/DI questions

I am in the process of upgrading my 40 breeder to a 75gRR. I want to buy an ro/di unit to eliminate traveling to the grocery store for water. I have been using the ro water from the grocery store for months with great success. Is it really necessary to have the DI filtration? What are the benefits? I haven't been able to find an answer through the search here on RC. Also, can anyone recommend an ro/di unit or ro only unit? I looked at the mighty mini from air water and ice. It looks like it would be sufficient for my needs but I am looking for some other options from people who already have units.

They sell both RO & RO/DI units, and can probably answer your questions. They have a forum section here on RC, but might be best to contact them through their site.

Basicaly, the RO membrane does the bulk of the water purification, but DI removes the remaining contaminants to get you close to zero TDS...

Bulkreefsupply, thefilterguys, buckeyefield supply are all great companies to deal with.

DI is good to have to catch anything the membrane missed. The Filmtec 75 GPD has the best filtering efficiency.
