RO/DI Questions...

Hi, me again. Sorry for all the questions, but I'm finally financially stable enough to get my RO water setup going. First, what brands are worth the money and are the ebay $100 ones worth it? Also, it will be filtering city water and the house has copper pipes. Its gonna be used on a fowlr system, dont think I'll be doing corals for a long time. Thanks for any advice!

The ebay ones are ok...but get them to change out the 100 gpd membrane for a 75 or 50 gpd membrane, it will be better because the 100 gpd membranes have too low of a rejection rate. Filter-direct has a decent unit for the money.

If you're interested, I have the following available:

A 32 gallon Brute for mixing.

Various 1/4" tubing & John Guest fittings.

Miscellaneous test kits, food, and other stuff I can't remember.

100 bucks for everything (pick up in Webster Groves)

Shoot me a PM if you're interested.

Think I may go with the filter guys OCEAN REEF + 1 FIVE STAGE 75 GPD RO/DI system. Do I need a chloramine filter upgrade? I will be using city water.

If you go the ebay route, be careful that you understand what it is you are buying and what you are not buying. We do a steady flow of business re-configuring ebay systems for folks once they understand what they bought on that auction site.

If you'll PM me and let me know what city you are in, and what water utility you use, I'll look to see if they use chlorine or chloramine for you.
