RO/DI running off Garden Hose?

Wondering if anybody does this long term?

My family is a little nutty... They will absolutely make bricks if I do anything other than use it and put it away after -- I could probably manage running it outside but I'm wondering how well this will work, or if there are any precautions I need to take.

Unit in question is SpectraPure 5-Stage MaxCap 90gpd

You could. Or just run and hide RODI inlet line from the hose outlet.

Anyway outside is fine, they're just imagining I'm going to be running water lines through the walls and absolutely refuse to believe that's not the plan!

So that would work just fine. I was mostly asking if there were any negatives to keeping the RO/DI outside.

Many people store it outside in sheds or garages. I guess the thing would be you don't want it to get too cold. You'd have to have a pump or you'll be carrying buckets of water, which IMHO is no fun. I have a 10-gallon container next to my tank which I use to top off.

Yeah that kinda sucks but I can deal with carrying buckets of water for now -- because currently I drive to get water -_-

As other stated, using the outside faucet is fine. Hook it directly to the faucet and not to a water hose. The water hose will most likely have all kinds of things in it and it will clog up your filters quickly. Just be sure to not let it freeze and don't drain it once done. If the RO membrane gets dry it is ruined.
