RO/Di unit and Phosphates

shouldn't a 6 stage RODI unit remove phosphates from the water it produces? The water coming out of my RO unit is around 1.0ppm phospate level.. HIGH as a kite! the water coming out of my tap is the same... It seems to have a coconut carbon filter as well as a activated carbon one.. Is that the problem?

A good RO membrane will remove about 70% of Phosphate. So, I'm not surprised you have a 1.0 reading from the RO. The Di rosins should remove all PO4 though. If you have PO4 after the DI then I believe your DI is defective.

T is that a pic of your unit itself ?

most DI resins (that I have seen) are purple when good and yellow/brown when bad the color change tells me when to change my DI.

My DI Resin is a brown/yellow looking color right out of the box as well..must differ between manufacturers.

yea that is my DI unit exactly... so maybe the Di is bad per say? I figured as much... well maybe i will just replace the DI portion? its brand new out of the box!

I know my RO unit needed a few days to break in before all the filtration is in full operation...I would give it 40- 50 gallons of use and check again with your test kit.

i think you can add a phosphate removal resin bed to that if you wanted, just remove the resin bed and use a mixed resin bed, i think that resin bed is for silicate removal, i could be wrong but im pretty sure thats what its for...awesome ro though, wheres the UV light?lol thats all itts missing....is that for commercial use, for human consumption, did it come with a 20 gallon water storage tank? if thats for commercial use then i am right about the silicate resin chamber b/c thats how i learned that, i was gonna buy one, but decided against it, the ones i saw had uv lights attached inside one chamber...i would have to bet that has chlorine membranes and large micron filters inside also....can you take pics of the filters inside each chamber

i dont know any locally around there, i know i just bought a mixed bed for mine it was around 60 bucks...all i have is a 3 stage- a 1 micron filter, a 1 mixed resin bed and the ro membrane....and it works great you might have to order one online to get whet your looking for...check here, the mixed resin bed should be different colors inside the one i have has orange green blue red black(carbon) and purple in it....all removes something different....i love it...

Doctors Foster & Smith sell the complete assembly for like 50 or you can by another refilable chamber off ebay and put the other resin in it.

I get mine from filters direct. but I have never tested the PO4 of my water.

I have never done business with these guy but I have herd good things if you give them a call they should be able to get you on the right track.
