RO / DI Unit has arrived!

Ok, My RO / DI unit is finally installed and running. It is producing 0.00 TDS.

Now I have been using distilled for the last few weeks to replace evap and to do 1 water change, but my algae problem I swear is getting worse. It's in the sand and forming a thick layer that I think is red.

Is doing weekly water changes going to get this under control? If so what % do I do? I have been changing 10 gal out of a 75 gal which comes out to be around 13%.

If you clean the canister filter weekly and do a 13% water change weekly along with manually removing the red algae you should eventually get it under control. I would not expect any overnight miracles. You will also want to take a hard look at the circulation and skimmer in the tank and make sure they are up for the task at hand.
