i have mine installed at the garage. just had it istalled this june. also wondering when winter comes. i know i cannot install it inside because of space. joey where did you tap your line into?
Even if its running all the time (which it wont), It could freeze if the temperature gets low enough. Youd have to drain it between each use if the temp is too low...read PITA if your using alot. Or you could get a space heater to sit out by it if the temp gets too low. Im not sure if that would be too much of an issue too many days here though. Youd just have to watch it. Even in the garage you dont want to repeat what I just went through....trust me
i've kept drinks, IV fluids and other liquids in my garage for years without any freezing issues. even had the temp outside drop below freezing for several days and the temp in my garage hasn't gotten low enough to cause anything in the garage to freeze...
as others have said though let it getlow enough and you'll probably have a mess, at least it would be outside though!
yeah i figured as much. i was hoping richard would chime in since i remember seeing his ro/di in his garage. but i guess he's too busy in tunica!!! hahahaha
I kept mine in my garage last winter. The cold exhaust your DI resin a lot faster. I moved mine into the laundry room, ran a splitter from my cold water supply line and have not had a problem since.
Mine never froze. Even when it snowed and iced last year. DI resin exhausting faster??? I am not sure about that one. It may, but not that I noticed.
I split mine off the water going into my water heater. I put in a "T" and a ball valve so I could shut the unit off easily. It drained waste water out into a flower bed...so the outlet was actually outside the garage in the yard.
i guess i will put the unit inside the house and drill the wall to go to brute in my garage and drill my kitchen cabinet to tap my waste underneath the sink. i have mine tap to the icemaker (ref) in the kitchen. all i have to do now is to convince RR to make me a strong stand for the drum outside so it will not be in the way.
I put mine in with the washer/dryer. I split the cold water supply for the washer to supply it and it also allows you to shut it off if needed. The waste water goes down the washer drain pipe.
The outlet goes up thru the ceiling, over the living room and down into the brute container in the garage.
When it gets below freezing, I just let the outlet line drain so the line won't freeze in the attic and rain into the house.
