Now if they would only invent an automatic or at least easier way to get coralline off of acrylic, I'd be in Heaven.
I finally did another thing that has been a HUGE help and I can't believe I waited so long. I bought a heavy duty rolling cart to put my salt mixing container (an 18 gallon rubbermaid) on. It's an audio/visual cart so it has a built in power strip on it. I can plug in my pump/airstone and heater to aerate the water over night out in the laundry room, then roll it right up to the tank when I'm ready to water change. Drain the out water into a big rubbermaid on the bottom shelf, then use a pump to put the new water right into the tank. Then roll it over to the sink and pump out the dirty water. No jug hauling at all!

I've heard that the urchins scratch acrylic. Do you have glass or acrylic? Do they work on the sides like they should or leave the sides alone and eat off of the rocks?
That's a tempting idea. I had a bunch come with my live rock initially but I got rid of them back in the day that I thought I wanted more coralline.
I have glass tank with two urchins - a pincushion and one with longer spines. The pincushion is really the only one that eats the coraline (that I have noticed). It has pretty much eaten all of the coraline that I had on the back of my tank and the sides. It also does eat the coraline off the rocks but it has not made a noticable differance to me? Like willem said, one is plenty. The one pincushion I have takes care of my 125. I dont know if it would scratch your acrylic or not. But I bet Richard or Dave would know.
well i got my 4 stage unit up and running. the tds meter is reading 35 in and flipping between 1 and 0 out. i figure it should run a bit before i get 0 all the time, right?
