RO in garage?

Hi All,

I have a brief question for all you experienced AZ reefers. I recently moved into a house with a water softener (in garage). There is a convenient place to permanently mount/hook up my RO unit in the garage. The water being fed into the RO would be softened.

So I have 2 questions:

1. From my research, it seems hooking up the RO unit after the softener is a good idea (increases membrane lifespan). Is this true? Does anyone have experience with this in AZ?

2. The garage temperature will vary widely. In summer it will be quite hot, and in winter quite cold - though I doubt it would ever freeze. Will this harm the RO unit? Does anyone have theirs hooked up in a garage or similar environment?

Thanks for any feedback!

Itll be fine. Mines in garage too, mounted right above a utility sink with a 44gal brute can / float valve / temp gauge another 6 feet way .

If youre going to store water out there too:
Youll have to cool it down before a water change in summer I use several frozen 2 liter bottles, in the winter I keep a heater in the brute can. I just transfer water using a pump instead of wheeling the can around.

Yeah, I do mine in the garage, and other than cooling it off before water changes, I have never had any problems either.
