Rock Anemones

Hi all,

I have some anemone shrimps, and I would like to keep rock anemeones (Phymanthus sp.) for the shrimps. I would prefer the rock anemones so I won't have to worry as much about the anemones stinging my mushrooms, zoos, etc. since they have very short tentacles and tend to stay in the sand bed.

I've bought several rock anemones, but unfortunately they have all died within a couple weeks. My tank has power compaqs and low to moderate current. All the mushrooms and zoos in my tank are healthy.

I've got some hairy mushrooms in the tank as well, hoping the anemone shrimp might accept them, however they haven't.

Any suggestions on what may be needed to keep the rock anemones?

I can't really give you any advice on how to keep them alive...but mine drives me crazy!! I have a 24 nano cube with a few gobies and a handful of sexy shrimp. I bought a rock anemone for the same reason you did, and mine won't pick a spot in the tank. I read that you were supposed to put them where you wanted them, they don't move much. Well, mine LOVES to cruise around the tank. He's been in the sandbed, on the very top rocks, on the back wall, under rocks, etc. He doesn't seem to do too much damage to the corals when he moves around, but it's frustrating to say the least...

i got one that picked a spot on rock with its base under rock and it sticks out from under ledge for light. Are sexy shrimp good to have for rock anenome. Mine was from another reefer who kept it for a couple of years and i have had it for 1 year.

I'm not sure if sexy shrimp like rock anemones (I'm planning on buying some soon though), but my Periclimenes shrimp do like them.
