rock boring sea urchin

I recently bought one of these cool guys---I know they eat primarily algae, but the LFS told me they feed them some things like brine shrimp, and krill etc. He was up toward the top of my tank tonight, so I handed a small piece of a silverside to him , and he took it from me, and moved to a corner seemingly eating it!! He has had it for a few hours now. Is some animal protein ok for them?? I find very little info on them. Thanks!

I have one there very hard to find around here. I have never feed anything to mine he just roams around and eats algae. Best urchin IMO dont bother anyhting. Anyway I think there eat poo to because I dont have alot of algae now and still dont feed him, and he does just fine.

I got to admit, it was quite cool handing him a silverside, and him going off with it.....cool stuff!!!
