Hello,
I have been running a 75G (36x24x20) primarily SPS reef for close to 3 years and I am planning a tank upgrade. I want to transfer most of my corals and livestock to my new tank but I really would like to replace my rock. My concern with this approach is that with this tank I started with Pukani Dry rock and it took me quite a while to get this tank running with adequate nutrients to keep my corals alive.
The reasons I want new rock are as follows...
1. I want to change my aquascape and because of the way I built my current aquascape, I think it will be difficult to use my current rock. (Much of it is mortared together.)
2. I have been dealing with Red Planaria flatworms for a long time and I am hoping to get rid of them. Although they have been under control for at least a year, I can still see them in my sand on on the rock.
3. I also have a large population of Asterina Starfish that I would like to be rid of.
I am considering using the new manmade live rock from Tampa Bay Saltwater but I have not made up my mind on this.
So, just looking for comments and advice on the best way to proceed.
Thanks!
