rock question

i have a mix of live rock,and the expensive fake rock they sell,will the fake rock become a bio filter like live rock once its loaded with bacteria?im guessing yes,i also have a wet dry with bio balls,could i get rid of them now?been up 6 months,also could that be why im not producing alot of skim with my skimmer?thanx

yeah your dry base rock will have the good biologicals in it by now.

get rid of the bioballs. half the first week, the rest 3 weeks later just to let your rock catch up on biologicals.

DO you have any fish. If no stock no skim if high stock lots of skim.Also salinity level. As for the rock you want pourus reef like rock and after time you will never tell the differance.

its the fake glass foam rocks they sell at lfs,ive seen it in many display tanks,its very pouros,also was getting good skim,tank had crack,had to switch it out 2 weeks ago,but used same water ect,could that have impact on skimate
