Hi Richard,
I've bought LR from you several times over the last 7 years or so, and have always been pleased. Picking the rock up from Midway in Chicago has always been easy and inexpensive.
I am in the process of upgrading my 29G reef (with 45 lbs of your rock) into my new 90G Oceanic Tech setup. Here is the build thread: http://www.reefcentral.com/forums/showthread.php?t=1714865
Here is what it looked like a few weeks ago:
The tank has been running since 11-23-09 with 140 lbs live sand, and it looks like it already mini-cycled as tank parameters are stable and what they should be.
I will be moving over the roughly 45 lbs of your rock (and a little other rock) from my 7 year old 29G to the 90G. There is a refugium of about 15 gallons as well which will have some rock. I do not want a tank with just a wall of rock in the 90G - I'd like to have some open sand bed in the middle and plenty of swimming room. That being said, I am envisioning two "mountains" on the sides of the tank that go up about 2/3rds the height of the tank, preferably with some nice ledges for high-light corals and to provide shade underneath for lower light corals. The one on the right side will be larger than the one on the left. I have enough rock from the 29 to probably build the majority of the left side mountain, but I think I need about 80 lbs. more to achieve the look I am going for.
So here is what I am looking for:
- about 80 lbs rock - larger, stackable pieces of interesting shapes that I can easily stack into a column/mountain. Maybe a few flat pieces if possible for ledges.
- Now this is going to sound crazy, but please limit the extras that are included. While I respect Florida reef tanks immensely, this is not the look I am going for, so please no anemones, gorgonians, big sponges, etc. I would be very happy with some clean up crew items though! I guess I am just looking for some of your very high quality rock with nice coraline growth, and not necessarily all of the life. I do love all the porcelain crabs and red mithrax that come on the rock though!
- Delivery to Midway Airport on this Dec. 12 Saturday morning / early afternoon
Is this a possibility? Thanks much!
