First recommendation is go to the Large Tank section of the forum and check out people's reef design. SPS section is great too. Once you have a idea then you go ahead and start building. Keep in mind nothing is final. You are kinda doing a rough draft design in your head. People who has more experience can do it quicker. Once you get your rock work done give it time to look it over. You will change it again until you finally get what you want. It took me a week and I am still tweaking it. I am not sure how deep your tank is but I suggest making some of the rocks slope upwards instead of building a rock wall structure. Sometimes less rock is better in some areas. Make some tunnels and cave for the fish to hide. Also, if you have your power head you need to connect them on. You will need to see if your rock work will restrict the current for your tank. Depending on what type of coral you plan to put is important how the water moves around. Another thing is detritus will build up on your rock and sand if there is no current moving through too.
