Rock to water

Most people think 1:1 or there abouts is good, but it depends on the way the rock is built. Some is denser and smaller while some has tunnels and cavities so it's larger. But on average about a pound per gallon is good unless you are going for a certain look, like lots of sand or lots of rocks.

1 to 2 pounds of rock per gallon of water is the usual recommendation. Your mileage may vary depending on how dense your rock is.

no true formula will ever be truely accurate get the rock that you will need to do your aquascaping

say i had a 20g tank i could take one rock that weighs 20lbs that is say 6"x6" on the other hand i can pickup another rock that is 20lbs that could be 18"x18" all depends on how porus the rock is

so in reality dont worrie about the weight to water ratio worrie about aquascaping your tank to look good
