RODI Algae Bloom

From the minute I set up my tank, only 0PPM RODI water has gone into it, but for some reason I'm getting a pretty bad green algae bloom right now. The tank is 36 gallons, about 5 months old, and has corals with 2 clownfish. What could be the cause of the green algae?

Ammonia 0
Nitrite 0
Nitrate 5ppm
Alkalinity 11dKh
pH 8.2

Do your RODI cartridges need changed? If they are full they could be leeching contaminants back into your water.

What lights are you running? How long are you running them per day? How often do you feed your tank? How frequently do you maintain/change your filter?

How old is the tank?

If the rock is new, the sand is new and nothing was cured prior to using it...then there’s your answer.

Your assumption that just because you use good RO/DI water that you shouldn't have algae is just totally wrong..

Combine light plus nutrients and algae has all it needs to grow..
Algae is also totally normal in all tanks and most certainly in new tanks..

Post a picture too so we can identify it and provide the best information to you

Any chance you have phosphate test kit or can get one too? post that if so..
